JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas –
High School and middle schoolers attending the San Antonio ACE Academy visited the 99th and 559th Flying Training Squadrons at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph June 14, where they got an in-depth look at what it takes to become an Air Force pilot.
During their visit they learned about the historic Tuskegee Airmen lineage and how they broke race barriers to become elite fighter pilots during WWII, got the chance to sit in the cockpit of a T-1 Jayhawk aircraft, and fly in the state-of-the-art immersive training devices to feel what it’s like to fly a T-6 Texan II aircraft.
The San Antonio ACE Academy is part of the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals, an organization that seeks to create pathways of success with diverse youth through education and mentorship in aviation career fields.
