JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas –
Col. James “J.C.” Miller, 433rd Operations Group commander, passed the 733rd Training Squadron’s guidon to Lt. Col. Seth W. Asay signifying the transition of command at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Dec. 7.
Prior to the transfer, Miller shared a few words with the audience about the organization.
“When the 733rd showed up, that’s when we started to see a lot of professional development happen in the Ops Group,” Miller said. “This organization makes an impact on all of our enlisted and officer corps that operate the C-5. The fact that you are the first operational unit these individuals get to experience; the impact you have on them, and the professionalism you instill in them, is why we have the corps we have out there operating the airplane today.”
After accepting the guidon, Asay spoke to the squadron about his plans to guide the unit.
“I’m your servant,” Asay said. “I’m not the leader. I’m here to take care of my people, and that’s my job. If I’m doing poorly, let me know, and I’ll make that change quickly. I feel like I’m a servant to you, and you are the leaders, because you are doing the work every day. I thank all of you for being here, and I look forward to serving with you each and every day.”
Asay officially accepted and started working in this position in Nov. 1. Due to scheduling conflicts, the group was not able to conduct the ceremony earlier.
