Ready, set … JBSA-Lackland prepares for CI

Lead firefighter Jeffery Newman, 802nd Civil Engineer Squadron, aids Senior Airman Ismael Perez, 59th Medical Wing, who is playing the role of an injured pilot during a recent Major Accident Response Exercise at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland. Events like the MARE, which simulated the crash of an aircraft, test the response capabilities of emergency management and support organizations on base. 479th FTG tests emergency response

Fire Department respond to an aircraft that had just made a simulated emergency landing as a part of the 479th Flying Training Group's aircraft mishap exercise February 16, 2012.  The exercise simulated a midair collision between a T1-A Jayhawk and T-6A Texan II and involved the 451st and 455th Flying Training Squadrons with support from the NAS Pensacola air operations, fire department and command staff. Basic training campus nears completion

Construction of the new Airman Training Complex No. 1 and its dining-classroom facility continues. The complex is on pace to be finished by late summer. Eventually, four ATCs and two dining-classroom facilities will replace eight Recruit Housing and Training buildings built in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
