12th FTW goes the distance to honor Airmen, saves $30K
January 29, 2013
Annual award winners from the 12th Flying Training WIng's 12th Operations Group and 12th Maintenance Directorate pose for a photo with Gen. Edward Rice, Air Education and Training Command commander (center), and 12th FTW leadership after receiving their awards at the Parr O'Club at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas, January 25, 2013. Due to the geographically separated nature of the 12th FTW, members stationed with the wing's 306th and 479th Flying Training Groups were not able to attend the event. Instead they were honored at individual events at their respective home stations, the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo., and Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla., on January 28 and 29. Typically all nominees are sent TDY to the ceremony, but having separate events saved the wing nearly $30,000.
