All three JBSA locations hosted events raising awareness for crime prevention and neighborhood safety through community involvement. National Night Out is an annual event observed throughout the U.S. which focuses on fighting crime through community and law enforcement partnerships.

JBSA-Randolph historic landmark gets facelift

JBSA clinics offer mammograms in October

The mammography clinic at JBSA-Lackland’s Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center will offer mammograms Oct. 26 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. At JBSA-Randolph, the 359th Medical Group will offer mammograms from 7:30 a.m. to noon and 1-3:30 p.m. every Friday during October as long as a provider submits a request.

Women in the Air Force reunion links the future with its past

Members of the Women in the Air Force, the term for women who joined the Air Force between the years of 1949 -1976, view a celebratory cake with a photo of the first all-female Air Force basic Military Training Class during the Joint Base San Antonio WAF Reunion Oct. 7 at JBSA-Lackland. WAF was founded in 1948 out of the Women’s Armed Service Integration Act, which enabled tens of thousands of female service members to find jobs in the Air Force. In 1976 women were accepted into the service on an equal basis with men.

Dermatologist earns health care hero award

(Dr.) Chad Hivnor, laser and research chief with the 59th Medical Specialty Squadron, uses a fractional carbon dioxide laser to treat a patient’s scar at the Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center on Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, Oct. 7. The laser treatment, also known as fractional skin resurfacing, goes deep into the epidermis of the skin and stimulates the production of collagen to create firm and smooth skin. Overall, 3,840 bottles of water and more than 150 pounds of non-perishable food items, clothing and cleaning supplies were gathered and donated to the area.
