No referral necessary at chiropractic, physical therapy clinics

Active-duty beneficiaries no longer need a referral from a primary care manager for evaluation and treatment in the Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center’s chiropractic or physical therapy clinics here.

For people experiencing neck pain, mid or lower back pain, or joint pain – including shoulder, elbow, wrist or hand, hip, knee, and ankle or foot pain – the chiropractic and physical therapy clinics offer a variety of treatment options and therapies to help reduce pain, minimize symptoms and maximize overall body wellness.

Because Department of Defense policy only authorizes chiropractic care for active-duty service members, the 59th Medical Wing is unable to provide the services to non-active duty beneficiaries. Self-referrals to the physical therapy clinic are also limited to active-duty personnel because of limited provider availability.

If you are an active-duty military member and would like to schedule an appointment with the chiropractic or physical therapy clinics, call the Consult Appointment Management Office at (210) 916-9900; select option one, then option four for specialty care appointments.

Patients can also call the clinics directly: Wilford Hall ASC Chiropractic Clinic, (210) 292-3715, or WHASC Physical Therapy Clinic, (210) 292-5040.

Appointments can be made for other non-urgent and non-emergent symptoms through MiCare, http://www.airforcemedicine.af.mil/MiCare; RelayHealth, http://www.relayhealth.com; TRICARE Online, http://www.tricare.mil, or by calling CAMO at (210) 916-9900, and selecting option one, then option one again for primary care appointments.

Patients who believe they have a serious medical emergency should call 911 or seek medical attention at the nearest emergency medical facility.
