Beyond The Horizon 2017: New clinic in Belize lays foundation for future

Completion of the new building at the Ladyville Health Clinic is officially marked at the ribbon-cutting ceremony June 9 in Ladyville, Belize. Florida International University nursing students help out at Beyond the Horizon 2017

Herlly Camacho, a Masters of Nursing student of Florida International University, administers eye drops to a patient in San Ignacio, Belize, May 11, during a medical readiness training event hosted by the U.S. Army field training exercise Beyond the Horizon 2017. Camacho and three of her classmates and one of her clinical professors from FIU volunteered to assist U.S. Army medical personnel administer free healthcare, as a means of broadening their horizons. BTH 2017 is a U.S. Southern Command-sponsored, Army South-led exercise designed to provide humanitarian and engineering services to communities in need, demonstrating U.S. support for Belize.

Beyond the Horizon 2017 provides free medical services event in Belize

ARSOUTH, Belize Defence Force work together for Beyond The Horizon 2017

The first rotation of Beyond the Horizon, or BTH, exercise personnel arrived in Belize March 25. BTH is a U.S. Southern Command-sponsored exercise that U.S. Army South manages. Chargé d'Affaires Adrienne Galanek, from the U.S. Embassy in Belize, spoke with incoming U.S. service members on the importance of the exercise to the continuing relationship between the U.S and Belize March 25 at Price Barracks, Belize. Following her brief, Galanek was given a tour of the BTH17 operations base and its facilities.
