Commissary, Exchange, MWR expand patron base starting Jan. 1, 2020

The Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs combined efforts to allow Commissary and Exchange use beyond its current patron base. Starting Jan. 1, 2020, Purple Heart recipients, former prisoners of war, all service-connected disabled veterans and caregivers enrolled in the VA's Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers program will be permitted to shop there.

Abraham Goodwin, 502nd Civil Engineer Squadron/Civil Engineering Management project manager at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, inspects the construction for the new exchange shopping center being built at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston as work crews lay down infrastructure at the project site.  The new 210,000-square-foot exchange center is being constructed across from and will replace the current exchange building located at Henry Allen and Winfield Scott roads. Expected completion date for the new exchange center is spring 2020.
