Warrior Transition Battalion prepares to take on new ‘SRU’ designation

Dignity and protection: learning walking cane self-defense

Master Phillip Lobo, a fighting and fitness instructor, demonstrates a cane self-defense strike technique on instructor Evan Payne, while assisting the Warrior Cane Project train 40 active duty service members, wounded warriors, veterans, and family members in cane self-defense tactics Feb. 3 at the Jimmy Brought Fitness Center at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston. Lobo and Payne, along with several other instructors provided a 3-hour session teaching the intricacies of cane self-defense.

BAMC NCO earns medal at air rifle competition

The DoD Warrior Games are an adaptive sports competition for wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans. Approximately 265 athletes representing teams from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Special Operations Command, United Kingdom Armed Forces and the Australian Defence Force competed June 30 – July 8 in archery, cycling, track, field, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming and wheelchair basketball.
