Navy seeks top athletes at 92nd Texas Relays

Recruiters and Warrior Challenge Mentor Program personnel from Navy Recruiting Districts San Antonio, Dallas and Houston attended the 92nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays held at the Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin. The meet, which ran from March 27-30, welcomed more than 7,000 athletes in the high school, collegiate and professional ranks.

Future yeoman sailor follows brothers into Navy

Aguilar is a division leading petty officer assigned to Navy Recruiting Station McAllen, Navy Recruiting District San Antonio and helped enlist his sister into the Navy. Torres, a 2018 graduate of Edinburg North High School, is the third of three siblings and the first female in her family to serve in the military.

South Texas twins seek opportunity in America’s Navy

The Navy Recruiting District San Antonio Liaison Office, co-located with Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) San Antonio at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, made history during the “Summer Surge” of recruiting by processing 235 future Sailors for shipping to Recruit Training Command in July; the highest number of any MEPS within Navy Recruiting Region West’s area of responsibility.

Navy recruiters, Georgetown ISD host regional SeaPerch competition

Juan P. Rodriguez, an education services specialist assigned to Navy Recruiting District San Antonio, welcomes teams, coaches and parents to the Georgetown SeaPerch Underwater Robotics Challenge Regional Competition held at the Georgetown Recreation Center. The Navy Recruiting Command Southwest Region City Outreach Program, in cooperation with the Georgetown Independent School District and NRD San Antonio, hosted the regional qualifier. The competition consisted of three evolutions: speed obstacle course, challenge course and interview/presentation.

Navy Recruiting District San Antonio names Sailor of the Year

Petty Officer 1st Class Juan Amaya, Navy Recruiting District San Antonio Navy ROTC program coordinator, has been selected Sailor of the Year for NRD San Antonio. Amaya, a San Antonio native, was one of four finalists within NRD San Antonio for the award. The award is given to a superior petty officer within a Navy command who best represents the large number of dedicated Sailors serving in a particular type of duty as assigned.

Ubri became a recruiter to show people why America’s Navy is the good choice for military service. “This award means that I did my job to the best of my ability and was recognized for my efforts,” said Ubri. “I want to make sure the Navy’s future and our future Sailors are in capable hands.” Additionally, Ubri was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his superior performance of duty.
