The National School Lunch Program is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit private schools and residential childcare institutions. It provides nutritionally balanced reduced or free lunches to children each school day. The program was established under the National School Lunch Act, signed by President Harry Truman in 1946.

New school liaison officer passionate about education, helping military families

Quiana Abner is the newest school liaison officer at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston. Abner works in the JBSA Military Child Education Program, where she helps provide services and resources for transitioning military families whose children are transferring to a new school in the San Antonio area.
