America’s Navy makes impact during JBSA Air Show, Open House

Petty Officer Dalisay De Ocampo of Lakewood, Wash., speaks with Garret Nunnelly, a sophomore attending Floresville High School, about career opportunities during the 2017 Joint Base San Antonio Air Show and Open House aboard JBSA-Lackland Kelly Field Annex.  Nunnelly was amongst 3,200 high school students attending the pre-day rehearsals of the air show and visiting the Navy’s virtual reality experience, the “Nimitz”.    De Ocampo is a Navy recruiter assigned to Navy Recruiting Station Mercado, Navy Recruiting District San Antonio and originally from Cavite, the Philippines.

In 1961, during the speed run launched on a course at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., the B-58 Hustler bomber blew past Mach 2, the 1,584 mph barrier, hitting a top speed of 2,095 mph.

Air Show and Open House coming to JBSA

In addition to static aircraft displays the air show featured aerial demonstrations of  World War II fighters and bombers, the Thunderbirds and gave visitors the chance to meet and interact with today’s Airmen.
