MICC employee recognized for volunteer efforts

Dr. Betty Harris receives the 2019 DreamWeek Volunteer of the Year award from Shokare Nakpodia during a ceremony Jan. 17 in San Antonio. Harris has volunteered more than 100 hours supporting the annual event during the past five years. Harris is an audit compliance officer with the Mission and Installation Contracting Command at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Nakpodia is the founder of DreamWeek in San Antonio.

MICC contracts underpin Army readiness efforts

Sgt. 1st Class Kevin McClatchey conducts a site visit with members of the department of public works Sept. 18 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in preparation for a contract award for minor construction. McClatchey and Capt. Steve Voglezon conducted 27 sites visits with DPW across Fort Bragg in order to accomplish contract awards prior to the end of the fiscal year. McClatchey and Voglezon are members of the 900th Contracting Battalion.

410th Contracting Support Brigade returns home from Afghanistan deployment

Bill Boruff, who departs for his next assignment at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Officiating the ceremony was Pardew, the commanding general for the Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal. The MICC is a subordinate command to ACC.

Armed Forces River Parade highlights ties to military families, community

Military members from Joint Base San Antonio enjoy the festivities at the Arneson River Theater during the annual Armed Forces River Parade May 18 in downtown San Antonio. This year's theme was "Salute Our Heroes." The parade promotes awareness of the joint presence and ties to the military families and community. Representing the U.S. Army in this year's parade were Brig. Gen. Bill Boruff, Mission and Installation Contracting Command commanding general; MICC Command Sgt. Maj. Marcos Torres, and Capt. Jim Jimenez, aide de camp for the MICC commanding general.

Army secretary recognizes MICC small business director

Mark Massie earned the Secretary of the Army Award for Small Business Utilization for his direction of the command’s program in 2018. He is the director of small business programs for the Mission and Installation Contracting Command at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston.

Herwig is the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention manager for the Mission and Installation Contracting Command.

Military takes part in Fiesta Media Day

The U.S. Army in San Antonio serves as the military coordinator for Fiesta this year. Brig. Gen. Bill Boruff took part in this morning's media event on behalf of Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Buchanan, the Army North  commanding general. Boruff is the commanding general for the Mission and Installation Contracting Command at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston. The 128th Fiesta San Antonio takes place April 18-28 and includes more than 100 events that showcase San Antonio's rich multicultural heritage. Fiesta began in 1891 to honor the heroes of the Battles of the Alamo and San Jacinto. Two service members representing each military service serve as military ambassadors and take part in more than 50 Fiesta events.
