JBSA reminds drivers to watch for flooded roadways

Each year, more deaths occur due to flooding than from any other thunderstorm related hazard, according to Texas Department of Transportation. Many of the deaths occur in automobiles as they are swept downstream. A small car can be carried away with just twelve inches of water, while 2 feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles.

Texas Army National Guard Spc. Brittany Reppond, 21, a carpentry and masonry specialist with the 197th Special Troop Support Battalion based out of Camp Bullis, was working as a salesperson outside a local gas station.
“I saw on the back of a car, ‘My Brother Needs a Kidney,’ Reppond said. “I’ve seen stuff like that in the past, but this time it was like God was calling me to do it.”
