Photographic perspectives of Cole High School students focus of Fort Sam Houston Museum exhibit

Maricah Frank, a student at Cole High School located at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, took this photo of upside down troop helmets filled with personal items and equipment in the parking lot in front of the old Brooke Army Medical Center at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston. The photo, titled “Field Day,” is one of 101 images submitted by students in the Cole photography program that are included in an exhibit at the Fort Sam Houston Museum that opened Dec. 10.

“Mission San Jose” is one of 31 photos taken by students from the Cole High School photography program that are included in the exhibit, “San Antonio: Esta es mi Ciudad,” at the Institute of Texan Cultures. Julia Alvarez took the photo of Mission San Jose reflected in a glass ball.

Cole High School students earn superior ratings for photos at national journalism convention

Raquelle Bennett, a junior at Cole High School, won the superior rating medal in the photography portfolio competition at the Journalism Education Association/National Scholastic Press Association National High School Journalism Convention held in November in Chicago. She was one of only three high school students from across the U.S. who earned the superior rating in the portfolio category.

Hafer and Yowell, members of the Cole robotics team, helped build and design the robot whose performance earned first place for Cole at the Texas Computer Educators Association, or TCEA, robotics area contest Jan. 20. As a result of their first-place showing, the team will compete in the TCEA State Robotics Challenge Contest April 7 at Hutto High School, near Austin.

New Cole High School Stadium improves game experience for players and fans
