Modernized GPS operating system closer to operational integration

Today the U.S. Space Force’s Space Operations Command accepted a modernized operating system for Global Positioning System (GPS), which is designed to maintain resiliency of the constellation and improve positioning, navigation and timing services to meet user demand now and in the future.

New DOD policy prohibits GPS-enabled devices in deployed settings

The Defense Department announced in a memo released Aug. 6, 2018 that personnel are prohibited from using geolocation features and functionality on government and nongovernment-issued devices, applications and services while in locations designated as operational areas.
