Army North heads underground to train in NYC

Members of U.S. Army Reserve chemical and medical companies provide immediate assistance to a simulated casualty during a mock subway joint exercise at the FDNY’s Training Academy, Randalls Island in New York, Sept. 26. The training, planned by the U.S. Army North Civil Support Training Activity, incorporated elements from the U.S. Army Reserve, New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority, and New York City Emergency Management, and was geared toward creating a holistic response effort that helped test the core competencies of Defense Support of Civil Authorities mission in a Chemical, Biological, Radiological or Nuclear response.

Soldiers, FDNY take advantage of rare training opportunity in Times Square

The New York City Fire Department in concert with U. S. Army North (Fifth Army) conducted a training event at the Times Square Church July 10 during the 2018 National Homeland Security Conference. U.S. Northern Command and the City of New York evaluated members of New York’s Emergency Services and the New York Army National Guard’s response to a simulated chemical event.
