Interested in flying in Air Force, but have little to no experience? Applications for Spring ‘22 Rated Prep Program being accepted now!
November 29, 2021
The Air Force Rated Preparatory Program provides qualified Airmen interested in cross-training to an Air Force rated career field the opportunity to gain and strengthen basic aviation skills.
Program participants receive self-paced ground training, approximately eight flight hours in a Civil Air Patrol Cessna 182 Skylane, and additional training in FAA-certified simulators—helping them become more competitive for rated selection boards.

Retired Air Force rated officers welcomed back on active duty
June 5, 2018
Officers who return to active duty under VRRAD will fill rated staff and active flying staff, test, training and operational positions where rated officer expertise is required. The Air Force’s Personnel Center can match VRRAD participants to stateside or overseas requirements. VRRAD officers will fill critical billets that would otherwise remain vacant due to the shortage of active-duty officers available to move out of operational flying assignments.
