Lt. Gen. Nadja Y. West (center), Army Surgeon General and commanding general, U.S. Army Medical Command, passes the guidon to Brig. Gen. George “Ned” Appenzeller as Brig. Gen. Jeffrey J. Johnson relinquished command of the Regional Health Command-Central in a change of command ceremony today at the Quadrangle at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston July 16.

Maj. Gen. Thomas Tempel, Regional Health Command-Central commanding general, passes the colors to incoming Brooke Army Medical Center commander Brig. Gen. George “Ned” Appenzeller May 11 during a simultaneous change of command and change of responsibility ceremony on the hospital’s ground helipad. Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Johnson relinquished command to Appenzeller and Command Sgt. Maj. Diamond Hough relinquished responsibility to Command Sgt. Maj. Thomas Oates during the ceremony.
