JBSA recognizes Gold Star Mothers, families

The Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston Survivor Outreach Support Services hosted the National Gold Star Mothers and Families luncheon at the Warrior Family Support Center on the Brooke Army Medical Center campus Sept. 29. Mayor Michael Carpenter of Schertz presented keynote speaker Brig. Gen. Wendy Harter, Brooke Army Medical Center commanding general, with the proclamation declaring Sept. 29, 2019, as National Gold Star Mothers and Family Day.

Dr. Charlene Smith, the community and family support officer from Army Support Activity, Joint Base San Antonio, addresses the audience during the Gold Star Mothers and Family luncheon Sept. 24 at the Warrior and Family Support Center, Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston. Held every year on Gold Star Mothers' Day, the event honors families of U.S. service members who have fallen in the line of duty.
