Celebrity chef to appear at Lackland Commissary

DeCA Public Affairs

FoodNetwork host and Air Force veteran Sunny Anderson, who attended basic training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, will be at the commissary May 25 to cook and sign autographs.

Anderson is on a cross-country tour making stops at four military installations and other locations this summer. Her tour has partnered with Operation Gratitude, which has sent millions of care packages to troops, recruits and retired military members.

Next to Anderson’s cooking bus will be a letter-writing station with postcards people can fill out to send to troops or any service member.

One dollar will be donated by Hormel Foods Corps to Operation Gratitude for every letter written, according to Nicole Behne, with Hormel Foods Corps.

The bus will be in the commissary parking lot from 12-6 p.m. For more information and the time Anderson will be cooking, contact the commissary at 210-671-2837.
