Live*Work*Play Expo is April 13; full schedule set

Joint Base San Antonio Public Affairs

Joint Base San Antonio and the 502nd Air Base Wing will host an installation-wide expo to showcase the benefits of living and working in the JBSA community from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 13 at the JBSA-Lackland Gateway.

 

The expo will have something for everyone and is open to all with base access.  There will be 34 info booths, three career enhancing seminars for civilians employees and dependents, and one seminar for all from the Chapel. 

 

There will also be a kids activity center and prizes, along with the Gateway Club serving their famous Mongolian Pasta Wednesday lunch.

Seminars:

10 a.m.- 11:15 a.m.:  How to navigate USA Jobs for your career progression/development

- Mr. Rodney Leonard, Office of Personnel Management

 

11:15 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.: Navigating the Air Force Civilian Careers.com website

- Mr. Jesse Martinez, Air Force Civilian Service Talent Acquisition at AFPC will demonstrate how to find Air Force Specific Jobs around the world and here at JBSA using this website

 

12:30 – 1:45 p.m.: Civilian Professional Military Education and other Education opportunities

- Discussing how to find education opportunities and how to pay for your education

 

1:45-3 p.m.: H.O.P.E.  Seminar

- H.O.P.E. is part of Installation Ministries (IM) Spiritual Fitness Initiatives. It promotes inspiration and a renewed sense of hope when dealing with tough issues in life by learning to stay; Hopeful, Optimistic,

Peaceful and Enthusiastic. We all need a "shelter" a personal place that we go to find strength and hope. H.O.P.E. provides to our warriors and their families an opportunity to explore and find their particular "shelter/source of strength". Come and See; you will be blessed. Chaplain Corps will provide

resiliency materials, publicity of special events, worship schedules among other materials

Military Family Readiness Center

- School Liaison Officer, and much more!

- EFMP family support helps families with education and outreach, referrals, local school/early intervention services and so much more.

 

Education Office/Schools

- Find bona fide (e.g. accredited, VA approved, DoD approved for military personnel, etc.) educational programs via Navigator and similar programs and how to fund them as well as PME enrollments.  

 

Civilian Training

- Info will be available on government training programs, both free and cost basis and, when applicable, how to secure unit training funds.

 

Resume Review

- Bring your resume to have it reviewed and get tips and pointers for refinements and improvements

 

Civilian Personnel Office

- CPO and the Air Force Civilian Service Talent Acquisition Team recruitment tables. List of current available Air Force jobs at JBSA. Information on all resources and services provided by civilian personnel

Public Health flight JBSA-L

- Info/displays on native species of significant disease vectors, venomous

arthropods and ways to avoid and protect against.

Diabetes Center of Excellence

-"Stay strong, live long" Showcasing the benefits of physical activity and nutrition Humana Military (TRICARE)

- Available to answer beneficiary's' questions about their TRICARE benefits.

 

59th Dental Group's Preventive Dentistry

- Educational displays and Oral Health & Oral Hygiene Information, as well as dental-related giveaways.

Behavioral Health Optimization Program (BHOP)

- Handouts with brief overview of resources to address behavioral and emotional aspects of whole person health; able to answer questions about services and what we can help with. Mammography Department

- Education material for breast cancer screening and detection Performance Triad (sleep, activity and nutrition)

- Comprehensive plan to improve readiness and increase resilience through public health initiatives and leadership engagement. The Triad is the foundation for Army Medicine's transformation to a System for Health, a partnership among Soldiers, Families, Leaders, Health Teams and Communities to promote Readiness, Resilience and Responsibility. The System For Health: MAINTAINS health through fitness and illness/injury prevention, RESTORES health through patient-centered care, and IMPROVES health through informed choices in the Lifespace. The focus of the Performance Triad is on Sleep, Activity, and Nutrition key actions that influence health in the "Lifespace" of time that isn't spent with a healthcare provider. As a result, the biggest impact on Health is made by making better choices in our Lifespace.

 

MiCare

- What MiCare is and how it is beneficial for the patient.

Beneficiaries enrolled at WHASC can fill out MiCare enrollment forms and all completed forms will be turned into clinics.

 

Chapel:

- Answer questions about chapel programs, Resiliency Materials,

Chapel's Worship Services, Prayer Booth; for those who may need a chaplain

to pray for them, Your Chapel Team will be ready for any spiritual need you

may have

SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

 

VIA/Ride Share

- VIA, vRide and Enterprise Rent-A-Car will provide information on the JBSA Express (weekend bus service to/from JBSA to downtown San Antonio), VIA "Act of Thanks" Campaign for reduced fares to active duty members, and the JBSA Rideshare Program.  Vanpool vans will be positioned in front of the

club for potential riders to tour.

 

AAFES/DECA info/Job Booth

- Info/ flyers/coupons/Open Job Positions/Exchange Giveaway.

Available to answer any questions or concerns about AAFES Exchange.

 

Lackland Performing Arts Group

- Info on how to become part of the group and events coming up

 

JBSA Armed Forces Against Drunk Driving

- Available to educate on AFADD services and volunteer opportunities

to provide JBSA a safe ride home.

 

502 Safety Office

- Information on safety classes, upcoming events, and other related

safety materials

 

Thrift Shop

- Come see how the Lackland Thrift Shop supports the local, military

community: shop to find unique items at a great price, consign no longer

needed items to earn a little cash or donate them, and volunteer to meet

interesting people and learn new skills. Business cards, brochures and

contracts will be available.
