UPDATE: T-38 lands with landing gear up

By 12th Flying Training Wing Public Affairs

A 12th Flying Training Wing T-38C Talon landed with its landing gear up on the east runway at approximately 10:30 a.m., July 29, 2013, with two aircrew on board.

Both aircrew members, an instructor pilot and a student pilot, were uninjured.

"We are incredibly grateful both pilots landed safely and without injury," said Col. Gerald Goodfellow, 12th Flying Training Wing commander. "Safety is the crux of our flying mission; we train for these types of contingencies to enable our aircrew to handle emergency situations successfully."

The T-38C Talon is used by the 12th Flying Training Wing to conduct pilot instructor training as well as introduction to fighter fundamentals on behalf of Air Education and Training Command. Elsewhere, the aircraft is used for joint specialized undergraduate pilot training.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
