JBSA safety office warns drivers: Always Expect a Train
The wreckage of a semi-truck was on display April 27-29 for all motorists entering Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph as part of a JBSA-wide demonstration to promote safety among motorists when crossing railroad tracks. The display is a partnership between the 502nd Air Base Wing, Union Pacific Railroad and Ainsworth Trucking, owner of the semi-truck. The display will be at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston April 30 to May 3 and at JBSA-Lackland May 17-23. The accident involving the Union Pacific train and the Ainsworth Trucking semi-truck occurred May 11, 2012, when the semi failed to properly stop at a highway-rail grade crossing south of Encinal, Texas.
