Capt. Julianne Philip competes in an endurance ride with her horse SN Independance on March 10 in Borene. This is Captain Phililp's first 50-mile ride. She finished in 9 hours and 26 minutes and placed 17th out of a field of 36 50-mile riders. Unlike most races where placement is determined by who crosses the finish line first, placement in an endurance ride is based on the horse's physical condition at designated vet check points on the trek.
