Lackland Air Force Base, Texas –
The Air Force Assistance Fund campaign, which officially began on base March 21, was promoted with a commencement luncheon March 23.
Base leadership and several AFAF workers attended the luncheon at the Gateway Club where Col. Stevenson "Sting" Ray shared the mission of the AFAF and the impact the fund has on base personnel, from helping with emergency childcare to assisting with utility bills.
Colonel Ray is the director of staff for the 37th Training Wing.
First Lt. Matthew Butler, the Lackland AFB AFAF's project officer, said the AFAF team has set a donation goal of $197,515 for this year.
The tax-exempt donations made to the AFAF are authorized to support four organizations: the Air Force Aid Society, the Air Force Village in San Antonio, the Air Force Enlisted Village near Eglin AFB, Fla., and the General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation.
The campaign is set to conclude May 2.
