Holocaust Remembrance Service
William Samelson, a visiting professor of Holocaust and Genocide Studies at the University of Texas in San Antonio and Trinity University, reads a poem during a Holocaust Remembrance Service April 15 at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. The poem honors his mother who died during the Holocaust. Dr. Samelson was 11 years old when he was captured by the Nazis and taken to Buchenwald Concentration Camp. He spent three-and-a-half years there. About 57 members of his family perished in concentration camps. (USAF photo by Alan Boedeker)
