Gateway Hills course offers deal for golfers

By Staff Sgt. Vincent Borden 37th Training Wing Public Affairs Office

For three of the last five years, the Gateway Hills Golf Course on Lackland has been voted the best military golf course in the San Antonio area.

For active-duty military, their families, retirees and civilians with access to Lackland, the course offers golf and driving range prices which are among the lowest in the area.

Coupled with its recent renovations, including the technologically advanced "Most Efficient Golf Swing Attainable" (MEGSA) instruction system, the Gateway Hills Golf Course distinguishes itself as an excellent place to play for the golf enthusiast.

The golf course was created 54 years ago in traditional military style, with hills, water hazards and bunkers located throughout the 6,917 yards of green.

With a course rating of 73.1, and a slope rating of 125, the Gateway Hills Golf Course offers a challenge for golfers of all different skill levels.

And for beginners, the course offers access to MEGSA, a technique-correction apparatus that helps tailor equipment to a golfer's swing, and golf lessons for $50 a session (or three for $125).

The Gateway Hills Golf Course, which offers an excellent escape for off-duty and organizational events and tournaments, is one of Lackland's best recreational facilities for the beginning or experienced golfer. For open play tee times, or for more information, contact the course at 671-3466.
