RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas –
Memorial Day has come and gone, marking the beginning of the summer swim season.
The two pools on Randolph are now open for patrons to enjoy lap swimming, swimming lessons and other events scheduled throughout the swim season.
Randolph's center pool, located at the officers' club, Building 502, is open Monday through Saturday, from 1-8 p.m. and Sunday from 1-6 p.m. for open swim. The South pool, located adjacent to Chapel 2 on H Street, will be open for swim lessons and lap swim Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
"Despite a rainy opening weekend, we're ready for a busy summer," said Denny Taylor, outdoor recreation manager. "We have a lot of exciting things scheduled, and we're ready to have some fun."
The pool staff has scheduled water-aerobics classes beginning June 4, swim lessons and game nights throughout the summer, Mr. Taylor said.
Saturdays at the South pool are reserved for private pool parties. Times are reserved in two-hour blocks, from 1-3 p.m., 4-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Those interested in reserving the South pool should contact the information, tickets and travel office, Building 897, for more scheduling information and prices.
Anyone with a DoD ID may use the pools, but an ID card must be shown in order to enter. Nonmilitary guests are authorized to use the pool facilities, provided they are accompanied by a cardcarrying DoD member or dependant, Mr. Taylor said.
Customers can sign up for swim lessons at the ITT office, Mr. Taylor said. Times and dates vary depending on the applicants skill-level, however, swim lesson applications range from $25 for pool pass members to $50 for non-members.
Season passes are also on sale. The cost is $35 per individual pass, or $75 for a family of three. Each additional child's pass is $10. Family season passes are limited to immediate family members, and the daily admission fee is $3 per person.
