LACKLAND AIR FORCE BASE, TEXAS –
The Stacey Eagles volleyball team faced the Center Point Pirates, putting up a strong fight Sept. 18.
While both the junior varsity and varsity team played hard, the Pirates proved too much to handle. The junior varsity team lost their match in two games, 8-25 and 21-25. The varsity squad lost their match in three games, 13-25, 24-26 and 15-25.
Setter Stephanie Glatt had two aces in the first game, while outside hitter Domini Davis had two kills.
The second game featured an up-and-down battle between the two teams as the Eagles jumped to a quick lead. However, a time-out halfway through the match allowed the Pirates to get back their rhythm of the first match.
The game featured the teams trading points the rest of the way, with the Pirates slowly gaining ground, but the Pirates pulled away in the end with some timely hitting from their outside hitter.
Davis had an ace and a kill in the game.
The Eagles never seemed to recover after that, falling behind early in the deciding game. Glatt had two saves and an ace in the final game, while Davis had one kill.
