RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas –
Randolph's annual Team Randolph appreciation event takes place Oct. 19 starting at 7 a.m. at Eberle Park.
This year's Oktoberfest includes various sporting events and tournaments, food, live music and door prizes. It is hosted by Randolph's Top III associations in celebration of those who continually sacrifice themselves and their families to protect America.
"Historically, Randolph has sponsored an event to celebrate only its enlisted personnel, however, now we celebrate it as Oktoberfest," said Senior Master Sgt. Shirley Jones, Oktoberfest committee president. "We want everyone to come out, have fun and enjoy the camaraderie of friends and coworkers."
The day will start with a 5K run, followed by sporting events such as 3-on-3 basketball, dodgeball, volleyball, tug-of-war and horseshoes.
Each organization may submit up to two teams for intramural sport events. Organizations that submit a team will earn one participation point per event and top finishers will earn additional points for their organization. The organization with the highest point tally at the end of competition will be awarded a prize from Col. Richard Clark, 12th Flying Training Wing commander.
"This is an outstanding program for the Randolph community," Sergeant Jones said. "It shows the installation leaders care about the enlisted members and it is a tangible way of acknowledging their contributions to the success of their organizations."
Live music will be provided by Planet Soul from 11:15 a.m. through 2:30 p.m. As a measure of safety, designated drivers will be available at the event.
