Boys team finishes district play flawless

By Tony Perez 37th Training Wing Public Affairs Office

After grabbing a rebound, small forward David Clark whipped the ball to shooting guard Mike Loar with an over-the-head, no-look pass that resulted in a 3-pointer.

The play was one of several highlights in the Eagles' 92-57 victory over LaPryor High School on Feb. 5.

The win gave the Eagles the district championship and an undefeated record in district play.

Loar finished the game with 30 points and Clark added 27 points in a game that wasn't competitive after the first 4 minutes of competition.

The Bulldogs were fighting for a playoff spot, and a loss meant the end of their season, resulting in overly physical game.

In the third quarter, Bulldog player, power forward Peter Mareinas, punched Clark in the chest out of frustration, resulting in a technical foul. La Pryor's head coach also received a technical foul.

Clark retaliated minutes later by punching the basketball through the hoop for a sinister dunk on three defenders.

Power forward Garrett Wimsatt enjoyed arguably his best game of the season, finishing with 21 points.

The Bulldogs sent two defenders at Clark every time he brought the ball up the court, but did so without much success.

With a little over three minutes left in the first quarter, Clark dribbled behind his back twice to evade the defenders before delivering a no-look pass to power forward Robert Rayburn.
