LACKLAND AIR FORCE BASE, Texas –
For Lackland residents electing to stay in base housing instead of moving off base during base privatization, the Lackland Military Family Housing Office will hold a town hall meeting May 13 at the Arnold Hall Community Center on Lackland.
Lease signing will be held in two sessions May 13 and are scheduled at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Base housing officials will be present all day to aid in the completion of all necessary documentation and answer any questions.
The Housing Office is on track to privatize all remaining housing on Lackland by July 1. As a result, each Lackland resident has a choice to remain in their unit or elect to move off base. Residents choosing to remain in their homes must sign a lease with Lackland's private developer, Faulkner USA.
Lackland residents signing leases with Faulkner USA will also sign a form to start receiving basic allowance for housing and a second form issuing the BAH as an allotment to the Realm Group, Faulkner USA's managing partner.
Lackland members that are deployed or on extended temporary duty must have an authorized agent acting in their behalf with a special power of attorney authorizing the agent to sign a lease, authorize release of privacy information to the developer and start an allotment.
Spouses or unit commanders of deployed Lackland members should check for this special power of attorney and start the process to obtain one with the Base Legal Office as soon as possible.
Residents deciding to move off base may do so at government expense. All Lackland residents deciding to move off base must notify the Housing Office by June 1, and should schedule their move off base before housing privatization begins July 1.
