Volunteers needed for Rambler 120 success

By Thomas Warner Staff writer

Volunteers and event coordinators had the biggest impact on Rambler 120 success in past years, said organizers.

Volunteers are needed again for the popular annual fitness event, to be held Oct. 18 at Canyon Lake. A barbecue meal and other incentives, such as a souvenir tee-shirt, will be given to all people who work as volunteers.

"We've had good response from people but we still have about 20 openings for anyone who wants to work with us," said Debra Jamrozy, volunteer coordinator.

Ms. Jamrozy anticipates needing around 60 people to serve as volunteers who can be available between 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. next weekend. All volunteers are not expected to be there all day and officials are assigning different arrival times and shifts.

Volunteers will pass out water to participants, staff checkpoints, start and finish lines, handle equipment, coordinate check-ins prior to the start, direct traffic, make sure participants do not deviate from the proper route, and perform other duties assigned by event organizers.

"The volunteers are perhaps the most important entity involved with this event and we appreciate all of the people who are on-board to help us this year," said Steve Knechtel, Rambler 120 organization chairman. "We need a few more people to finalize things and we promise they will enjoy themselves, while aiding the success of the event. This is a fun thing to be a part of."
