Randolph area child care providers needed

Most people do not directly relate the Air Force mission with child care.

But nearly all military parents can attest that the availability of professional child care is one of the most important factors in preparing for a day's work. To support the mission, new providers are always needed.

The Randolph Air Force Base Family Child Care Program is currently seeking on- and off-base providers to help meet the challenge of providing quality care to military members.

The Air Force's FCC program offers parents an alternative to center-based child care for children ages six weeks to 13 years of age in both on-base housing and in civilian communities. The program currently operates licensed homes on 80 installations worldwide and provides care for more than 20,000 children.

Becoming a provider offers the reward of direct support to the Air Force mission by caring for children while establishing a rewarding career as a professional child care provider. The Family Child Care program offers spouses the opportunity to start their own business, set their own hours and fees and even care for their own children while providing care for others.

In addition to the training, the program offers an extensive resource center with a full range of child development and safety items. Start-up costs are minimal and credentials follow the provider from base to base as their family makes permanent change of station moves.

Anyone interested in starting their own child care business on Randolph, or in the surrounding communities, can attend the next family child care training class from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 20-24. For more information, call 652-3668.
