Sexual Assault Awareness month kick-off event serves as annual training requirement

By Sean Bowlin 12th Flying Training Wing Public Affairs

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and to kick off the observance, the Randolph Sexual Assault Response coordinator will host an aerial demonstration and briefing April 1 at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Youth Center gymnasium in Bldg. 585.

Attendance to one of the three briefings will satisfy the annual Air Force sexual assault awareness training requirements, according to Jackie Shiflet, Randolph SARC.

An aerial performance entitled, "My strength is for defending," will kick off the training event, followed by a presentation from Rod Reder, a subject matter expert from the National Institute of Crime Prevention in Tampa, Fla.

Col. Jacqueline Van Ovost, 12th Flying Training Wing commander, will attend the first presentation to sign the official monthly observance proclamation.
