Randolph Idol to belt it out

By Staff Sgt. Tim Bazar 12th Flying Training Wing Public Affairs

You've seen it live on TV. Now military and family members can share in the excitement.

The 12th Services Division is putting out a talent call for adults 18 years of age and older to show off their vocal skills in the "Randolph Idol" competition beginning April 9 at the Parr O'Club.

"We really want to have participation and attendance from every group in the wing and from all our mission partners," said Terrye Heagerty, 12th Services director. "All it takes is a great voice and a lot of friends to vote for you."

Officials are excited as the planning comes together and interest is increasing, she said.

"We've exceeded our goal on the number of contestants, identified our judges and even selected our 'Ryan Seacreast of Randolph' to emcee the event," said Ms. Heagerty.

The first round, singers can choose any song they want. In following weeks, singers will perform a song in the style of Motown, rock/pop, then country. For the finale, performers will sing two songs.

The grand prize winner will win $1,000; second place and third place will earn $500 and $250, respectively.

The schedule for Randolph Idol is:

April 9 - Parr O'Club
April 16 and 23 - Kendrick Club
April 30 - Parr O'Club
May 8 - Kendrick Club (finale)

All shows begin at 6 p.m., and drink and food specials will be offered every night during the events.

"Even if you don't sing, come on out and enjoy the shows and vote for your favorite singer," said Ms. Heagerty.

Contest rules can be downloaded from www.servicesatrandolph.com or picked up from a club cashier or the Information, Tickets and Travel office in Bldg. 897.
