Randolph MTA looking for motivated NCOs

By Staff Sgt. Beth Del Vecchio 12th Flying Training Wing Public Affairs

The Randolph Middle Tier Association is seeking motivated noncommissioned officers to be involved in an organization that gives back to the base and the local community.

The organization is open to staff sergeant-selects, staff sergeants and technical sergeants from all groups and tenant units on base. Monthly meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 3:30 p.m. at the Kendrick Club.

This year's MTA council has many events planned so present and future members can work together for a good cause.

Tech. Sergeant Jamilia Greene, MTA president, said she has always enjoyed being involved in professional organizations, but wanted to be in a leadership position so she could make a difference for others, especially her peers.

"I want people to be excited about being a member of MTA," Sergeant Greene said. "I want to give my peers the tools they need to be successful, to give back to the base and our community and also set the example for others."

The MTA is charged with participating in major projects each year, such as the youth center's Fam-A-Ganza event to celebrate the month of the military child in April, Operation FLAGS event in June and the NCO Induction Ceremony in September. This year, the council also plans to host a variety of professional development workshops.

"We just completed our very first Supervisory Writing Workshop, which was a huge success," Sergeant Greene said. "We are offering these workshops as a way to give back to Team Randolph and the very people that make the MTA such a huge success."
She said the council plans to offer workshops each month that cover topics ranging from effective and corrective writing to public speaking. The workshops are open to everyone, not just members of the MTA, proving that the mission of the organization is to get everyone involved.

Sergeant Greene said that all members of the MTA will benefit from increased participation in the organization.

"The MTA gives junior NCOs an avenue to network with each other," she said. "Networking gives them a chance to meet people outside of their unit and career field and open doors to opportunities they may not have otherwise had.

"We do a lot for the base and community as individuals; just imagine what we could accomplish as a group. What's stopping you?"
