Randolph announces Stage 1 water use restrictions in effect

The Edwards Aquifer level has been recorded at or below 657.5 feet for 5 days. Per the 12th Flying Training Wing Water Management and Conservation Plan, Randolph has entered the Stage 1 critical period and the accompanying water use restrictions have been declared. 

Restrictions apply to all personnel living, working, or otherwise conducting activities/business on base. Notwithstanding the following restrictions, water may be used when and to the extent necessary to prevent danger to public health, safety, or welfare:

Stage 1 water use restrictions for Randolph

1. Any action resulting in water waste is prohibited.
· Water must not be allowed to run off into gutters, ditches, or drains due to overwatering of yards/landscapes
· All water leaks must be immediately identified for repair

2. Landscape watering is allowed only 2 days a week and is prohibited between 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
· Watering days for even-numbered street address are Saturdays and Tuesdays 
· Odd-numbered street addresses are Sundays and Wednesdays
· The only exception to this rule is that landscape watering is permitted on any day before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m. by means of bucket; a handheld hose with an automatic shutoff valve; a soaker hose; or a properly installed drip irrigation system to maintain trees, shrubs, or other ornamental plants, but not grass or turf

3. Washing or rinsing impervious outdoor ground covering, such as parking lots, driveways, streets, or sidewalks, is prohibited unless for health or safety reasons.

4. Privately owned vehicles may only be washed in accordance with the designated landscape watering schedule and, in no event, will water from vehicle washing at a residence be allowed to flow freely into the street in a wasteful manner
· Base residents are encouraged to wash cars no more than twice a month
· A positive shutoff nozzle must be used with hoses when washing cars to prevent water waste
· Charity washes are prohibited

5. Irrigation of athletic fields is permitted only as required to maintain turf viability/safety 
· The use of non-potable or gray water, or treated effluent is excluded from these requirements 
· Athletic fields should not be watered more than twice a week during approved watering hour
