RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas –
Randolph will soon become one of ten bases to test a new online program designed to simplify the way civilians hunt for that government "dream job."
The program, known at the Department of Defense Enterprise Staffing Solution, or ESS, is being tested at Randolph over a six month period beginning June 15, and will ease the process for Team Randolph civilian personnel looking to fill vacancies across the globe.
The program is expected to fully deploy DoD-wide in December 2010.
"The ESS is a state-of-the-art simplified hiring process," said Brenda McCain, 12th Mission Support Squadron civilian personnel officer. "ESS will take the place of all current recruitment processes and systems and will streamline the application process for all DoD vacancy postings. This is a big change from the current method of applying for Air Force vacancies."
The new process will involve all DoD civilians looking for another government position and can ease the burden of creating a new resume every time they apply for a vacancy.
Further, the new system will allow applicants the ability to:
· View video tutorials on the application process
· Attach documents (like SF-50s, transcripts and DD-214s) to an application
· Integrate with the official DoD job seeking Web site, usajobs.org, and more than 1,400 other job boards
· Tailor each resume for each job application
· Respond to vacancy-specific questions
· Define interests to be notified of jobs in which they may have interest
· Track the status of an application
· Complete additional forms online
Civilians interested in learning about the new program can receive training on how to use it during town hall meetings that will be held in three time slots on June 8 and 10 at the Randolph High School auditorium, Bldg. 1225. Participants can attend the 8-9:30 a.m., the 10:30 a.m.-noon or the 2-3:30 p.m. training session on either day. An interpreter will be available at the 10:30 a.m. session on June 10 for the hearing impaired.
Carpooling is recommended and busses will transport people 45 minutes prior to training start times. Busses can be boarded at Hangar 5, Hangar 63, Bldg. 499 (main entrance) or Bldg. 900 (front of building).
Supervisors and managers of civilian personnel will have an opportunity to train at the Randolph High School auditorium on June 9 at 12:30-2 p.m. or 2:30-4 p.m., or June 11 from 8-9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m.-noon or 2-3:30 p.m.
Carpooling is recommended, as busses will not be available to transport supervisors and managers to the high school.
