RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas –
Team Randolph members will have a chance to see some of the latest products in green technology during a special event next week.
The Randolph Energy Program will present an energy fair Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Kendrick Club.
"October is Energy Awareness Month," said Anthony Martinez, 12th Mission Support Group Civil Engineer Division energy program manager. "Typically the Randolph Energy Program has a one-day event to showcase the base's commitment to energy conscientiousness. This year we invited approximately 15 vendors to demonstrate their energy products."
City Public Service will participate in the event, with its representatives providing information on rebates and savings that the utility offers. In addition, they will give away free compact fluorescent bulbs.
Some of the products featured will be high-efficiency air-conditioning systems, vegetated roofs, light-emitting-diode lighting, window-covering materials and solar technology. A variety of giveaway items will be available.
Mr. Martinez said the base community is invited to the energy fair, which he said should also benefit contractors and subcontractors working on base building projects.
"We're trying to get contractors working on new products tied in with the new energy technology," he said. "We want them to choose energy-efficient technology. The energy fair can help set up conversations between contractors and the people who are selling the new technology."
