AETC names individual, group civil engineering award winners for outstanding job performance

By Sean Bowlin 12th Flying Training Wing Public Affairs

Air Education and Training Command announced command-level awards for several Team Randolph civil engineers Nov. 6.

"The Air Force's civil engineer office," said Ron Bell, Headquarters AETC civil engineer's office, "annually recognizes CE organizations and people for outstanding achievements and requests major commands to nominate units, squadrons, flights, teams and individuals for awards."

Mr. Bell explained,a selected panel evaluates the bases' nominations, and selects winners based upon scoring criteria. Unit and individual award winners are recognized at the Base Civil Engineer conference and are forwarded to Air Force Civil Engineer Service Agency to represent the MAJCOM at the Air Force level.

Team Randolph civil engineers won two group awards, placed as runners-up for two additional group awards and for three individual awards. Overall, Team Randolph walked away with nine individual awards for merit.

The 12th Civil Engineer Squadron's family housing flight won the Brig. Gen. Michael A. McAuliffe Award. That squadron's resources and operations flights were respective runners-up for the Maj. Gen. Robert C. Thompson and the Maj. Gen. Clifton D. Wright Awards. Also, Headquarters AETC's chief of engineering won a group Air Force Energy Conservation Award.

Mr. Martinez, 12th Civil Engineer Squadron energy program manager, said winning an individual energy award involved much teamwork. While he developed several plans and projects, it took many experts to execute them.

"I'm very proud to receive this award," he said. "There are a lot of worthy people throughout AETC, so to be singled out is significant. But it all goes back to the fact that no man is an island. I function only as part of the larger picture and am humbled to be singled out."
