Randolph Middle Tier Association seeking new members

By Robert Goetz 12th Flying Training Wing Public Affairs

The Randolph Middle Tier Association is beginning the new year with a call for more members.

The organization, open to all staff sergeant-selects, staff sergeants and technical sergeants from all groups and tenant units on base, provides leadership "in promoting professional development, esprit de corps and support of programs that improve the mission of junior enlisted personnel at Randolph and the community at large," said Tech. Sgt. Lethario Vanish, Randolph MTA president.

The Randolph MTA participates in a number of activities and programs on-base, including the NCO induction ceremony, Operation Families Learning About Global Support, the youth center's Fam-A-Ganza and Airmen Against Drunk Driving.

Sergeant Vanish said the 19th Air Force's command chief, Chief Master Sgt. Bernise Belcer, spoke to association members during their first meeting of the year and told them their involvement in the organization will enhance every job they do and benefit their career development.

"People will recognize you for the right reasons if you become involved in the middle tier and you will enhance a project, a charity or a subordinate by becoming proactive," he said.

Sergeant Vanish said he is seeking "a renewed interest and energy in the Middle Tier Association" in his term as president.

"An organization is only as strong as the members that make up the organization," he said. "Our organization should be leading the way in any effort that shows its technical and staff sergeants in a positive light. The MTA is the type of forum where we can make a difference and showcase our considerable talents."

In addition to Sergeant Vanish, other 2010 officers are Staff Sgt. Tiffany Sargent, vice president; Tech. Sgt. David Daniel, secretary; Staff Sgt. Genna Gonzales, treasurer; Senior Airman Katie Hickerson, event coordinator; and Tech. Sgt. Kristie Simpson, public relations representative.

Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 3:30 p.m. at the Kendrick Club.
