LACKLAND AIR FORCE BASE, Texas –
Pre-registration for the AirFest 2010 lost children's booth begins Oct. 25 and continues through Oct. 29 at Joint Base San Antonio installations.
Parents can pre-register their children those five days from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lackland ITT office, the Randolph Air Force Base ITT office or the Fort Sam Houston Child Development Center.
Staff Sgt. Jacob Galan, AirFest lost children's booth chairman, said the child and parent will both have bracelets with matching serial numbers for identification purposes.
The bracelets will contain the parents' name, child's name, parent's cell phone number and operations phone number.
"(Registering the children) is important because it will give parents peace of mind knowing their children will be safe and secure (if they become separated) while the parent is contacted and informed of the child's location," said Sergeant Galan. "We hope a majority of parents take advantage of this complimentary service. Pre-registration will be fast and painless, and consists of picking up a set of bracelets and filling out information."
AirFest 2010 officials at Lackland are forecasting more than 300,000 will attend the two-day event Nov. 6-7. Sergeant Galan expects about 15,000 children for AirFest.
There will also be three lost children booths for parents to register their children during AirFest, one at each entry point and at a central location.
But with such large attendance predicted, Sergeant Galan urges parents to pre-register and avoid the hassle.
"We're unsure of the wait time for registration (at AirFest) but I'm anticipating large crowds," he said. "That can lead to potential bottlenecking lines at the booths and delays in reaching other activities."
