JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO, Texas –
The Great Texas Airshow will return to Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph on May 2-3, featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the U.S. Army Parachute Team, the “Golden Knights.”
This year’s theme is "Let Freedom Roar; Honoring 250 Years." The event is free and open to the public. Gates will open at 9 a.m. each day, with aerial performances scheduled to begin around 11 a.m.
A Military Appreciation Day for all Department of War ID cardholders is scheduled for Friday, May 1. The day will include a STEM Fair featuring cyber events and activities, along with practice aerial demonstrations.
In addition to the Thunderbirds and Golden Knights, other planned military acts include demonstration teams for the C-17, KC-46, and the F-22. The event will also feature static displays and support from all branches of the military. Planned acts are subject to change.
Traffic approaching JBSA-Randolph will be guided to public gates and general parking areas. Shuttles are provided from the general parking area to the airshow area.
In general, traffic will flow as follows:
-All Pat Booker airshow traffic will turn East onto FM 78 and proceed to the East Gate.
-Traffic from Cibolo/Schertz areas on FM 78 will continue straight on FM 78 to East Gate turning left into the base.
-Traffic from Seguin direction on IH-10 will turn North on FM 1518 or Loop 1604 and proceed to Lower Seguin Rd and enter the Lower Seguin or South gates.
-IH-35 traffic will turn South on Loop 1604, proceed to FM 78 to be directed to the East Gate or continue on Loop 1604 to Lower Seguin Rd and the South Gate.
-JBSA-Randolph residents can use the Lindsey or West gates but should expect significant delays approaching the installation.

Media passes are available for Military Appreciation Day on Friday, May 1, and The Great Texas Airshow on Saturday, May 2. Airshow staff are available for appearances on news programs and morning shows leading up to the event, and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will have a planeside media availability on their arrival day.
