By Tech. Sgt. Melissa Estevez 433rd Airlift Wing Public Affairs

Staff Sgt. Lindsey Neubauer, 433rd Aeromedical Staging Squadron, was presented the Spirit of Service Award by the American Legion during the 433rd Medical Group’s commander’s call on Aug. 2, 2025.

Representatives from multiple American Legion posts across Bexar County attended the ceremony to recognize Neubauer’s exceptional military service and volunteerism. In addition to the national honor, she was also awarded:

  • The American Legion Post 300 National Security, National Guard/Reservist of the Year
  • The American Legion District 20, Department of Texas, National Security, National Guard/Reservist of the Year
  • The American Legion Department of Texas National Security, National Guard/Reservist of the Year

These accolades culminated in her selection for the American Legion National Spirit of Service Award for National Guard and Reserve members. Neubauer has been invited to attend the 106th National Convention of the American Legion in Tampa, Florida, where she will be recognized alongside six other honorees from other U.S. military branches.

A native of Keams Canyon, Arizona, and raised in Farmington, New Mexico, Neubauer comes from a long line of military service, stretching back to the Civil War. She enlisted in the Air Force Reserve in 2020 as an aerospace medical technician and has since taken on leadership roles in major training exercises, including Patriot Medic. Earlier this year, she took part in Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team (LAMAT 25), a global health engagement in the Caribbean.

Outside of uniform, Neubauer has participated in dental missions with her church to Mexico and India, assisting more than 400 patients and helping raise $25,000 for the cause.

Neubauer’s dedication to service, both military and humanitarian, earned her the American Legion’s highest recognition for National Guard and Reserve members.
