Mission Monday: Marcus Schulze, Contract Specialist, 773rd Enterprise Sourcing Squadron

Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center Public Affairs

It’s Mission Monday!  This week we highlight Marcus Schulze, contract specialist for the 773rd Enterprise Sourcing Squadron, Air Force Installation Contracting Center.

Schulze, a San Antonio native, brought us up to speed on his contribution to the warfighting mission through the support of military working dogs.

Why did you join the Air Force?

I joined civil service to push myself into a field where I could learn a completely new area of expertise and be of service to the people that chose to put their lives on the line in defense of our nation.

When it comes to your job, what keeps you motivated?

Knowing that the contracts that I work on have a tangible impact on the world is a great motivator for me. Every time I walk into an airport and see the military dogs doing their jobs, it validates the importance of what I get to do.

Why are you and your team important to the Department of the Air Force?

In a world that seems to be changing at ever-increasing rates, my team is there to take what our customers need and find a way to get there.

Describe a project/event you and your team worked on recently that gave you a great sense of accomplishment:

I was recently part of an effort to catch up on closeouts, and I took on the list of closeouts for my group. My efforts lightened the administrative burden on the group while recapturing funds on several contracts that could be used elsewhere.

How does what you do support the warfighter and DAF installations?

One of my programs is integral for the military working dog program that allows Air Force security forces to actively monitor threats against the U.S. and its allies across the globe. This program carries great importance in the pursuit of increased lethality and readiness to every person in the U.S.

I power the world’s greatest Air Force by…

… doing my part in the world of contracting to support the amazing men and women of the Air Force Security Forces Center who go out every day to protect all of us.

What do you like to do outside of work?

My biggest joy in life is spending time with my wife and kids. I was blessed to have married the most amazing woman on the planet, and we have two kids who coincidentally turned out to be the best two kids ever. We enjoy spending time outside exploring on the weekends whenever we can, and my wife likes to torture me with themed family portraits every year.
