Bring your smile and your camera! JBSA sets up self-help portrait stations

By Olivia Mendoza Sencalar 502d Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Starting July 24, the 502d Air Base Wing Public Affairs office — which serves Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, JBSA-Lackland and JBSA-Randolph — will offer a new self-help portrait station featuring an American flag backdrop.

“In an effort to provide Joint Base San Antonio personnel another option for official portraits, we initiated a self-help portrait station,” said Christopher Campbell, 502d Air Base Wing public affairs operations chief.

Stations are located at each of JBSA’s major installations and are available to all JBSA personnel. This initiative expands the ability of the 502d Air Base Wing Public Affairs team to support individuals who do not meet the criteria for a traditional official portrait.

The initiative empowers JBSA service members and civilians to update official photos — with no appointment required.

Camera equipment and operators are not provided, and 502d Public Affairs staff are not available to take photos at these stations. Photos must be taken using a customer-provided device, such as a cellphone or camera, by the individual or someone they bring with them.

Visit the self-help portrait station Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at:

  • JBSA-Fort Sam Houston Public Affairs, 3170 Stanley Road, 210-221-5152.
  • JBSA-Randolph Public Affairs, 355 B St. West, 210-652-4410.
  • JBSA-Lackland Public Affairs, 2230 Hughes Ave., 210-671-2908.
