Combined Federal Campaign runs through Dec. 15, 2024

502nd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Each fall, the Combined Federal Campaign enables Federal employees and retirees to come together to raise money and volunteer for our favorite charities. This year’s campaign at Joint Base San Antonio runs through Dec. 15, 2024.

Thanks to your generosity, the CFC has raised $8.7 billion since its inception to support people and communities in need across the country and around the world.

The mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.

CFC is one of the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaigns, with 35 CFC campaigns throughout the country and overseas raising millions of dollars each year.

Pledges made by federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season will support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world. The director of the Office of Personnel Management has designated responsibility for day-to-day management of the program and to its CFC office.

Fundraising for charitable organizations in the Federal workplace can be traced to the late-1940's. However, formal authority to permit fundraising in the Federal workplace was not established until 1961.

In signing Executive Order 10927, President John F. Kennedy authorized the U.S. Civil Service Commission to develop guidelines and regulate fundraising in the federal service.

Federal employees and retirees represent a strong, caring community through the CFC, dedicated to making a difference for those in need. Overseen by the Office of Personnel Management, the CFC offers the Federal community the opportunity to donate to thousands of participating charities.

How the CFC works for federal employees

1. Choose your cause. Whether you care about finding cures for diseases, supporting military families, or promoting equality for all, the CFC has vetted charities for any cause you want to support. You can even give to multiple charities with one pledge.

2. Make your pledge. Our favorite giving option, the online pledge portal, allows you to easily renew your pledge each year and offers the full range of pledge options:

  • Payroll deduction (the most popular)
  • Credit/debit card
  • E-check/bank transfer
  • Volunteer hours (Federal employees only)

Other options include the CFC Giving Mobile App, Text to Give, and paper pledge forms.

3. Change the World. Thanks to your generosity, CFC charities will make a difference in our local communities, across the nation, and around the world.

Did you know that in addition to making a monetary gift through the CFC, as federal employees, we can also pledge volunteer hours?

As a bonus, the monetary value of these pledged hours will be added to the local fundraising total. Last year, more than 83,000 volunteer hours added $2 million to the overall CFC results.

Two things to keep in mind:

  1. You can only pledge volunteer hours to charities that accept them (identified with a “hand” icon in the charity list).
  2. If you want the charity to contact you about your volunteer pledge, you must release your contact information when you pledge. If you wish to remain anonymous, you will need to reach out to your charity regarding fulfilling your volunteer pledge.
