Developmental special experiences with AFROTC, USAFA, FBI highlighted in quarterly spotlight

Air Education and Training Command Public Affairs

Developmental Special Experiences provide Air and Space Professionals opportunities more than just education and training opportunities, they help the service build the Airmen needed for the future high-end fight.

The DSEs, cataloged by Air Education and Training Command’s Force Development Credentialing Division’s DSE branch, are hands-on experiences outside of formal training, established recurring opportunities, a means to gain/increase competencies, and duties typically external to primary AFSCs or job series.

The following DSEs are highlighted this quarter:

Officer:  AFROTC Detachment Instructor, Assistant Professor of Aerospace Science (APAS)
Provides instruction in accordance with Holm Center academic curricula, syllabi, and other AFROTC-directed or emerging training in various settings on and off campus.  This is a 3-year tour open to captains and majors in any Air Force Specialty Code.

Enlisted: U.S. Air Force Academy Academic Faculty Instructor
This experience is open to E-6 through E-9 with a master’s degree in one of the 20 academic departments taught by the Academy's Faculty Department and is open to all AFSC’s. The select will perform duties on a 3-year controlled tour as an academic faculty member and will be responsible for lesson plan development, instruction, classroom administration, student evaluation, academic remediation, and lab supervision at a fully accredited institution of higher learning.

Civilian: FBI National Academy Experience
This DSE is a 10-week crossflow experience with law enforcement experts from around the globe. It is open to GS-09s to GS-15s in the civilian 0083 – Police job series and must have 60 college credit hours.
